Community Hub Partnership with RSA Trust

Following the recent closure of the local library on the Island Village, Christian Action Housing Association has partnered with the RSA Trust and RSA Island Village (RSAIV) to establish a new, much-needed Community Hub within the reception area of our Benedict House office.

To create an alternative community space, we have offered our own reception space for the Hub. RSA will fully fund the necessary renovations to transform the area into a welcoming and functional community resource.

Services Provided at the Community Hub

The new Hub will offer a range of essential services for local residents, including:

  • Free access to computers and the internet
  • Book lending and return facilities
  • Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) outreach service
  • Local collection/drop-off point

Key Benefits

  • Preserves vital community services following the library’s closure
  • Enhances Christian Action’s visibility and role in supporting the local community
  • Promotes social inclusion and digital access for residents
  • Maximises use of existing reception space for broader community benefit

Strategic and Regulatory Alignment

This initiative aligns strongly with expectations from the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH). It demonstrates:

  • Responsible asset management
  • Commitment to social value and community wellbeing
  • Strategic use of resources to support the community
