A New Community Hub for Residents

With the closure of the local library on Island Village, we know many residents have lost a vital space for connection, learning, and support. That’s why Christian Action Housing Association, in partnership with RSA Trust and RSA Island Village (RSAIV), is proud to be supporting a brand-new Community Hub by donating part of our Benedict House reception area.

We’re transforming this area into a welcoming, multi-use space to ensure our residents and the wider community continue to have access to essential services and support.

What the Community Hub Will Offer

The new Hub will offer many of the services previously provided by the library, including:

๐Ÿ’ป Free access to computers and the internet

๐Ÿ“š Book lending and return facilities

๐Ÿงพ Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) outreach services

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ A space for residents to directly engage with us

๐Ÿ“ฆ A local collection and drop-off point

The space will be designed for our residents. Whether you need a quiet spot to go online, want to learn more about local services, or simply wish to speak with us directly, the Hub will be open and flexible to meet your needs.

Why This Matters

This initiative is all about putting people first. Here’s how the new Community Hub will make a difference:

โœ… Protects vital community services after the library’s closure

๐Ÿค Strengthens our connection with residents and the wider community

๐ŸŒ Promotes digital inclusion and access to advice and support

๐Ÿ  Makes the most of our existing space to benefit everyone

๐Ÿ“ˆ It provides value for money, having delivered financial savings for both organisations which will be ongoing.

Aligned with Our Values

This project also reflects our commitment to responsible, community-focused housing management. It supports key priorities set by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), including:

Smart use of our assets

Delivering social value

Supporting resident wellbeing

We hope you will find this space enjoyable and useful. We look forward to sharing progress as the project develops.
