Our young people
We support young people from many diverse cultures and backgrounds and we ensure that all our residents have fair access to the services we provide. Young people come to us not only in need of housing, but support to learn new life skills, to access universal services such as GP’s and dentists. Our young people have access to our Engagement team. The Engagement team (ET) offer workshops on life skills, employability and CV writing. They also work with young people to support them to identify their passions and career aspirations. Click here for more information about EET.
“Before I came here, I felt like giving up my studies as I had nowhere to live. The staff at the Foyer have really helped me to focus on my studies and they support me to maintain my housing. I am now on the way to Cambridge!” (Young person from the Foyer)
Young people have access to in-house workshops like ‘Eat well’, live well, healthy conversations and sexual health. We also offer young people access to our media suite, which offers courses on video production and editing, music production and song writing skills.
“The support I received was excellent", “Staff at TH are AMAZING”, “Have clean room”, “The workers helped me with learning about myself”, “I have a strong relationship with my support worker”,“Tiffeny, explains things in depth”, "Everyone here is caring and understanding” (Residents from Teresa House).
“I like being able to get involved with planning events and seeing all our hard work pay off when it all goes well” (youth panel member).
At Christian Action Housing there are lots of ways for young people to get involved and our residents have a voice and are empowered. We have a dedicated Youth Panel that meet on a monthly basis to plan events like our summer celebration event and awards show, where we recognise the achievements of young people throughout the year. Our young people also review policies and procedures, follow up repairs, complaints and generally help shape the service they are part of. Christian Action Housing also has a 'local offer' specially designed and developed for the needs of the young people, which the youth panel are also involved in producing.
