Development & Regeneration
Although we are a relatively small housing association, Christian Action has maintained an active development programme of new housing in recent years. As part of North River Alliance, we are a delivery partner for the Greater London Authority housing investment programme.
Recent Developments Include:
Unity Place, where we developed 80 new homes for rent on Sutherland Road in Walthamstow. This development makes an important contribution to the wider re-generation of the area.
Many of our developments provide other facilities for the community:
On the Bounces Road Estate in Edmonton we provided a new community hall and play area alongside our new homes. We also created a new landscaped ‘London square’ for all local residents and funded CCTV and other estate improvements.
At Vincent House we worked in partnership with Enfield Council to provide new offices and interview rooms for Age Concern, Enfield CAB and a base for Ponders End Community Development Trust. The striking new building also includes a café.
In Barnet, our redevelopment of Trinity Church, Mill Hill, provides new housing and also includes the refurbishment of the existing Church building on behalf of the United Reformed Church, who use the new facilities to serve the local community in Mill Hill.
Burleigh Way, we redeveloped the former Gala bingo site adjacent to the market place in Enfield town centre providing 40 new homes for rent as well as new commercial units.
Teresa House, in Ponders Ends provides our latest accommodation for young people, in an attractive development that makes a positive contribution to the street scene.
We have received significant grant funding from national and local government. We will continue to seek out opportunities to provide more housing and to facilitate other services in the neighbourhoods in which we operate.
