Compass Support service (CSS) is a service within Christian Action Housing that offers general support to existing Christian Action tenants on housing, money & finances, physical health, mental health and social and cultural issues.

Eligibility for CSS:

  • Tenants must have a CAHA tenancy.
  • Tenants must be available for an initial interview and then ongoing weekly or fortnightly visits.
  • Tenants must be able to provide GP or other medical practitioner details if help with a physical or mental health problem is needed.
  • Tenants must give consent for a full welfare benefits check to be carried out if help with benefits / finance is required.
  • Tenants must be willing to occasionally complete a questionnaire giving feedback of the service.

Eligibility for the service is based on a tenant needing support in one or all of the following areas:

  • Harassment & Safety issues
  • Housing issues
  • Finance and rent issues
  • Physical & Mental Health issues
  • Social & Cultural support issues

You can ask for support by telephone or by letter. Your Neighbourhood Officer may inform us if they know that you are currently experiencing difficulty with housing, social or health problems and require support.Once a referral is received you will be contacted by telephone or letter asking you to be available for an initial interview.

If the assessment is completed satisfactory the support worker will then develop a support plan with your approval. Weekly or fortnightly visits will be made to see you at home to review and monitor your situation and make sure your support is effective.

Other professional organisations will usually become involved with you depending on your situation.

Support ends when your issues are suitably resolved or until you decide that you no longer require the service.
