Disability - Aids and Adaptations
If you have a physical disability that requires an adaptation to your home, Christian Action Housing Association wants to help you.
It is the Association’s intention to ensure our homes are places you want to live in, and by working with your Occupational Therapist, we will carry out the necessary adaptations to your home.
Please see below, the following steps that are needed to get the works carried out.
1) You need to contact your local Social Services’ Occupational Therapy Department to assess what is required to help you with your disability. (A list of Occupational Therapists in your borough are set out below).
2) The Occupational Therapist will visit you at home and will assess and agree with you what adaptations will best suit your needs.
3) The Occupational Therapist will then contact the Association with details of the works required at your home.
4) The Association will be asked whether or not they agree to the works proposed and whether or not they can be paid for from Christian Action's funds. If funding from Christian Action is not available, an application for a Disabled Facilities Grant will be submitted to the local council.
5) If Christian Action can fund the work, we will arrange for a surveyor to attend your home and draw up a schedule of works for our contractor.
6) We will then arrange a start date for the works with you and our surveying staff will monitor the quality of the works carried out at your home to ensure it meets the Association and the Occupational Therapist's standard of work.
