What We Do

Christian Action owns or manages over 1450 homes across the four North London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey & Waltham Forest. We have an ongoing development programme, seeking to meet a range of local needs through the provision of new housing.

Homes For Families, Couples and Single People at Affordable Rents

Christian Action has a range of properties in North London, including traditional street properties and recent new build developments which meet a variety of community needs.

Keyworker Housing

Our Keyworker housing is targeted at people working in the public sector. We charge intermediate rents to enable key workers to afford good quality accommodation at a charge that is reasonable. Temporary Social Housing

We provide longer-term temporary accommodation for homeless families and single persons who are referred to us by local councils from the homeless persons waiting lists.

Retirement Housing

Christian Action has always provided a range of accommodation for older people, and we currently have 90 sheltered dwellings (with support from Resident Scheme Managers), and over 200 further homes that are suitable for older people.

Within our retirement schemes we remain committed to the principle of Scheme Managers living on site, as this provides valuable reassurance and security to our residents.

Supported Housing for Young People -Young People First

   Young People First: Enfield Foyer

The Enfield Foyer provides 36 short term self-contained studio accommodation together with ICT and social facilities for young people who require support with Education, Employment and Training. Applicants should be aged 16-24 years old and have a local connection to the London Borough of Enfield.

As a Supported Housing provider, we require clients to engage in the support planning process which will enable them to acquire the skills needs to live independently. All applications are assessed against the services eligibility criteria, which includes need and risk assessments. This service is able to support clients who have been assessed as having low-medium support needs.

The Enfield Foyer works closely with a range of partner agencies, including Enfield Council, the Probation Service, the Learning & Skills Council, Enfield College and the employment service.

The Foyer Project also acts as a base for services to the wider community in its neighbourhood. Our referral agencies include: Two E Advice & Information Service; London Borough of Enfield departments such as Youth Offending Service, Access To Resources Team (ART); Housing & the Leaving Care Team; London Borough of Haringey Youth Offending Service; Connexions and other voluntary agencies within the borough of Enfield.    Young People First: Deborah Tempest House

Deborah Tempest House provides 14 units of shared accommodation with 2 and 3 bed flats. Clients have exclusive use of one room and share kitchen, bathroom and other facilities. Applicants should be aged 16-24 years old and have a local connection to the London Borough of Enfield.

As a Supported Housing provider, we require clients to engage in the support planning process which will enable them to acquire the skills needs to live independently. All applications are assessed against the services eligibility criteria, which includes need and risk assessments. This service is able to support clients who have been assessed as having medium-high support needs. Our referral agencies include: Two E Advice and Information Service; Lifeline; Capel Manor College, London Borough of Enfield departments such as Youth Offending Service, Access To Resources Team (ART); Housing and the Leaving Care Team; Connexions and other voluntary agencies within the borough of Enfield.

   Young People First: Next Generation

This young parent accommodation service provides 7 self contained studio flats for young parents aged 16-24 years. Applicants should have a local connection to the London Borough of Enfield and all referrals are received through the London Borough of Enfield Housing Department.

Applicants can be expectant mothers or already have one dependent child of under school age (0 - 4.5 years). As a Supported Housing provider, we require clients to engage in the support planning process which will enable them to acquire the skills needs to live independently. All applications are assessed against the services eligibility criteria, which includes need and risk assessments. This service is able to support clients who have been assessed as having low-medium support needs.

   Young People First: Accommodation Service

The YPF Accommodation service supports clients in the London Boroughs of Haringey and Enfield.

Haringey YPF -The service has 22 shared bed spaces in flats and houses across the borough. Clients have exclusive use of one room and share kitchen, bathroom and other facilities. Accommodation types range from a 2 bed flat, to a 5 bed house. Applicants should be aged 18-49 years and have a local connection to Haringey.

Enfield YPF-The service has 32 shared bed spaces in flats and houses across the borough. Clients have exclusive use of one room and share kitchen, bathroom and other facilities. Accommodation types range from a 2 bed flat, to a 7 bed house. Applicants should be aged 18-30 years and have a local connection to Enfield.

All applications are assessed against the services eligibility criteria, which includes need and risk assessments. This service is able to support clients who have been assessed as having low support needs.

Our referral agencies include: Two E Advice & Information Service; London Borough of Enfield departments such as Youth Offending Service, Housing & the Leaving Care Team; Connexions and other voluntary agencies within the borough of Enfield. All referral for our properties in Haringey are received from the Councils Vulnerable Adults Team who are based at Apex House.

   The Young Persons First Floating Support Service

The Young Persons First Floating Support Service provides housing related support to 16 & 17 year olds who are homeless. Referrals are made through London Borough of Enfield Housing Department. and through London Borough of Enfield Leaving Care Team.

As a support provider, we require clients to engage in the support planning process which will enable them to develop existing skills needed to live independently and sustain their tenancies with their landlord. All applications are assessed against the services eligibility criteria, which includes need and risk assessments. This service is able to support clients who have been assessed as having low - medium support needs.

Other Supported Housing Specialist Projects

Christian Action has a number of projects for tenants who have special support needs. These include three Women's Refuge Projects, housing for people with learning difficulties and mental health problems, and housing for people who have had a history of rough sleeping.

Most of these projects are run in partnership with other agencies who provide additional care and support.

   Support Services

Christian Action has developed a number of services that support people in housing need but who may not be our tenants.

   The Elevate Project

The Elevate Project, operating in the boroughs of Barnet and Haringey, supports women fleeing domestic violence.

   Vincent House

Our development at Vincent House provides temporary accommodation for young people with a learning and/or physical disability, as part of their transition into independent accommodation in the community. The project is staffed 24 hours a day and affords our residents the opportunity to develop independent living skills in a supportive environment.

We were very pleased that Vincent House was part of Enfield Council's successful bid to become a Beacon Authority for Supporting Independent Living for Disabled Adults in 2009-2010.

Vincent House also provides office accommodation to Enfield Age UK (formerly Age Concern), Enfield Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB) and Ponders End Community Development Trust. There is also community space within Vincent House which is available for hire by local groups and individuals. Community Projects

   Enfield Temporray Accommodation Play Project

One of the most successful services operated by Christian Action has been the Enfield Temporary Accommodation Play Project, which provides vital play facilities and development opportunities for children who do not have permanent housing. In addition, it provides advice to parents and, where appropriate, training in English as a second language. This service operates in Enfield and is funded by the council and a number of charitable trusts.

   Bounces Road Community Hall

The Association owns and manages a community hall on the Bounces Road Estate in Edmonton, N9. Bounces Road Community Hall is a community hub and provides a base for a number of community based activities, with the large main hall available for hire.
